A couple weeks ago we had the pleasure of being the subjects for our amazing photographer friend’s photo-shoot. And after a very long day of shooting, which included some “defying gravity” and “illegal activities,” we have for you the amazing work of Ky Ngo!

A couple months ago we were asked by one of our good friends to help him bring an idea he had to life. He was preparing for an job interview to be an Ekin for Nike. In short, Ekin is a job title for a person working for Nike who knows the company front wards and backwards, hence the name, “Ekin.” We know…it’s pretty clever.
We got to film at a Nike Outlet Store early one morning and also spent countless hours rotating shoes on a makeshift lazy Susan and hardwood floor samples from Home Depot. In the words of Jordan Rogers, “It was a humbling experience, but it was absolutely necessary.”
Things we did in Los Angeles:
Entered a TETRIS TOURNAMENT and loss…badly :) We both finished around the 2min 30sec mark, but the really good players were clocking in at 60 SECONDS!!!!!

CASTING GRACE!
When we came up with the idea for this commercial we knew that for the Mother/Daughter relationship to feel right. We had to cast actors who can create that bond. Luckily, after talking to our actress friend, Amber Sutphin for the role of “Mom,” she had a great recommendation, her own daughter, Grace.
This was Grace’s first time acting in, well, anything! And there were moments where it showed, but there were also moments of brilliance! One thing we took from this project was if you are ever working with kids, talk to the parents and get to know your talent. Through Amber, we learned so much about Grace’s likes and dislikes. Information that helped us talk to Grace and get the emotion we felt was needed for this production.
Above was our initial storyboard for the “Rainy Day.” As you can tell, not everything made it to production.

“Before the Shoot” was something we’ve always wanted to do. It is basically a some of the steps we take before we begin production. Today we have a couple of things from our production for Cults- “You Know What I Mean” music video.
Above was our initial storyboard for the “6th Grade” scene. As you can tell, not everything made it to production.
Here is the layout for each scene. Eventually we decided to film the “Wedding Reception” scene in the same room as the “6th Grade” and “Prom.” It saved us a lot of time and we ended up having more space than the previous location.

Big news! Kevin and I have been accepted to USC School of Cinematic Arts for a masters degree in T.V. and Film Production. We are very excited about this opportunity and plan to move to L.A. at the end of October. We made this blog to share the stories we currently have and will inevitably have on this journey to our goal! Thanks everyone for your support!
